LEWDEN’S basic range of IEC 60309-2 plugs and sockets have been tested and certified (kitemarked) by the British Standards Institute Certification Service under the CCA scheme. All the other international test houses subscribe to this scheme and agree to accept each others certification subject only to any national deviations, which are very rare. An outline of these international symbols are shown on this page.

A selected range of LEWDEN products have also been Listed by Underwriters Laboratories and Approved by the Canadian Standards Authority.

IMPACT STRENGTH

All LEWDEN IEC 60309-2 products rated 16A and 32A pass an impact test of 1 Joule which is the same impact as an IK 06 rating. 63A and 125A products pass an impact test at 2 Joules, equivalent to IK 07. The IK test is carried out at room temperature whereas the IEC 60309-2 test is carried out at -25oC, which is much more demanding.
